MitchelLake, has announced its expansion into North America with the appointment of a US CEO and West Coast office launch and multi-client win.  The expansion of  Mitchellake into the San Francisco early stage technology market places the firm as the only Australian specialist technology search firm with a presence in the heart of silicon Valley.

Mitchellake has already established partnerships with a number of Australian technology firms operating in the Bay area, including 5thfinger, Bluepulse, Generic Booking Systems, Mobile Messenger and BullRoarer. This, combined with the acquisition of PopularMedia, a Disney funded viral marketing start-up, provides a dynamic mix of Australian and US early stage ventures, with a strong focus on mobile.

Greg Russell, CEO, will establish and grow MitchelLake’s US operations, consult to clients on best recruitment practices and execute these requirements tactically for organisations such as PopularMedia a Disney-funded, second round viral marketing technology company, 5thfinger, a highly successful mobile marketing business started in Australia, acquired by NineMSN and recently launched in San Francisco and New York, and Bluepulse which won first round funding of $6M.

Russell started his career with a boutique San Francisco search firm working with early stage technology ventures such as, Redwave Networks and 1stup.com.
He then spent three years at Futurestep, a Korn Ferry company in Wellington, New Zealand, as part of the company’s industry-first Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) solution for Telecom NZ, which saw him integrate Gen-i’s recruitment following the merger with TNZ. Since returning to the US, Russell has been working with web 2.0 start-ups including PopularMedia to help them double in size, adding 35 hires in the past year.
The company is also currently seeking a consultant to join its North American operations.

“2008 already shows that MitchelLake’s future is extremely bright: these four achievements represent a significant milestone in our company development,” said Phaedon Stough, Joint Founder and Managing Director of MitchelLake. “As the only Australian-headquartered recruitment firm with a presence in North America, we will benefit our clients and candidates whose seniority and expertise lead them to seek the right position irrespective of the location. For clients, it’s so critical for young or specialist companies to hire the right people in a time and cost-effective manner. We anticipate this expansion will also help us gain further US and international traction. Mitchellake will also seek to establish an Australian/NZ technology network in San Francisco, similar to that of Innovationbay.
Specifically, MitchelLake Consulting offers:

• Executive Search and Selection
• Contingency Recruitment
• Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO) Consulting
