15th Annual AIMIA Awards

Friday the March13th saw Australia’s brightest stars of Interactive Media converged on Sydney’s Redfern Technology Park. Lucky for some. The stunningly renovated carriage workshops proved to be an excellent choice for the event as the space and height of the building provided sufficient ambience and a sense of occasion. The ceremony started with an unusual interactive dance piece that centered on the struggle to possess the highly sought after AIMIA trophy. Our friends at The Hyperfactory walked away with a number of AIMIA’s that commended them for their highly successful Mobile campaign with the United Nations and Saatchi and Saatchi. Also successful on the night was Viocorp who won the Best Tourism Travel award through a project with Tourism Queensland. Other winners included the ABC, Tigerspike and Euro RSCG. The night continued on with the after party at Cockle Bay where celebrations lasted well into the night. MitchelLake is very much looking forward to the work the winners produced this year and to the AIMIA’s in 2010.

Steve’s thoughts: “Brilliant evening, great networking with everyone. Some very worthy winners and some fantastic projects.” 8.5/10

Jacinta’s thoughts: “I loved the new venue and really liked the amount of space when compared to last year’s event at NIDA. I thought the winners demonstrated an interesting mix and it was good to see no one company dominated this year. I’d give it a 8/10.”

Jeff’s thoughts: “I think the decision to run all the way through the awards without a break was a good one, it kept people together. The winners and nominees were the usual suspects and there weren’t too many surprises or controversial winners. I thought that the venue could have been sectioned off to stop people spreading out but overall I’d give an 8/10.
