News, insight and events
from across the Group.

This April, I was lucky enough to host the first of a series of global events designed to help educate, develop and improve the connectivity with fast-growth technology businesses going through growth challenges. The catalyst for the series has been the increased activity and priority of internationalisation of technology businesses over the last 3 years.

At MitchelLake we practice what we preach. With offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, Singapore, Europe and San Francisco, we know a thing or two about global growth. However, we’re firmly aware that there’s not a great deal of information-sharing on this topic, so we’re excited to be holding our first event in an ongoing series - Global Growth: Advance into APAC - in San Francisco this April.

Last week I was pleased to attend Innovation Bay’s latest Focus Dinner. These events are an opportunity to sit down with an intimate group of entrepreneurs to share stories and ask questions of a featured speaker. We were spoilt for talent on this occasion with Julian Green – Founder of Jetpac (acquired by Google) and Houzz – leading the evening in conversation with Sam Shank – current CEO / Co-Founder of HotelTonight.

The team at MitchelLake Group are looking forward to the APAC Global Recruiter Awards after being nominated and named as finalists in two categories:

- Best Specialist Business (APAC)
- Best Overseas Operation (MitchelLake San Francisco office)

The winners will be announced at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore on the 2nd of October.

The Next Atlassian...

Let me start this blog by making a bold prediction – within five years there will be at least three other Atlassian’s in Australia. The Australian start-up community often talks about creating more ‘Atlassian’s’ i.e. creating a $1 Billion plus international tech company in Australia. The Startmate Accelerator program was created to give Australian tech startups a platform to do just this!

Where did the year just go?

Reflections on 2013 for the MitchelLake Group.

The MitchelLake Christmas staff party is one of those reflections points for me every year. It's a moment in time where I am able to look back on the last 12 months since we last celebrated the end of the year and take stock of the highlights and lowlights for our business this year. We had our annual staff and partners gathering on Friday so I thought it would be worth throwing a few of my thoughts from 2013 out there.

We had our ups and downs like any business but without doubt, the Chinese year of the snake has been another one marked by growth, change and opportunity. Here are some of the highlights. (According to me of course)
