The comeback of Augmented Reality Posted at 0:00, Thu, 24 July 2014 in Industry Insights

Doesn’t something need to have been around first to make a comeback? The concept of Augmented Reality (AR) has existed for some time but it is only now that we are starting to see mainstream adoption of this enabling technology with applications that are able to deliver on our lofty expectations.

As with most emerging technologies, AR fell victim to those who were quick to exploit but came up short on substance. AR has had an on and off start but has now well and truly hit its stride with the growth of practical applications across a number of industries and its adoption by some of techs biggest players.

Trans-Tasman digital agency One Fat Sheep specialises in creating AR applications and see the massive opportunities for AR in a number of sectors such as healthcare, construction, real estate, engineering and talent attraction/management. They have worked with a number of clients on some exciting projects that have delivered successful outcomes, ranging from branding & marketing through to loyalty systems, recruitment and visualisation.

The future is well and truly here and with the phenomenal growth in capabilities of smartphones, tablets and wearable technology, it is going to be an incredible time for AR in the next few years.
