Process-node co-optimization requires Cadence to validate its tools against Intel Foundry's actual design rules, parasitic models, and yield targets, not against a reference PDK. That means engineering resource tied to a roadmap Cadence does not control, and commercial exposure to Intel Foundry's ramp velocity. The Rapidus partnership announced in the same period adds a second foundry node commitment running in parallel, compressing the internal bandwidth available for each engagement and raising the execution complexity of Cadence's AI-toolchain claims from marketing to manufacturing reality.
